Ray's Notes

We had our largest car count ever of 109 cars for our pre-Winternationl warm up race at Fontana. Thanks to John Rademacher at Product Engineering for sponsoring the race & to Andy and Laura MacDougal, of MacDougal Motorsports, for sponsoring the winners trophy. We knew there may be some glitches at this race due to the fact that this was Fontana’s first race with real race cars, but we hadn’t figured on having to finish four rounds of both S\St & S\C and three rounds of S\E from Saturday’s race due to no lights.  Thanks to Dave Danish, his hard working staff, our gals, Kitty, Kari, Mo and Robin, and the co-operation of all the racers from all the organizations we were able to complete the race by 6:00.  Thank you all!

We had two great husband & wife teams in our finals.  Congratulations to Jon & Christy Brazeau for not only winning the race but also for collecting the Bulls-Eye money, sponsored by Tim & Donna Daniel, Jim Sowards and Randy Bowers for taking out last years champion, Gary Mignacca.  Besides being great racers they are also great people.  Also congratulations to Doug & Chris Bracey for their runner-up finish.  It’s never a surprise to see them in a final; they too are a great couple.  Doug did the wiring on my new car & it not only looks great but it also works perfectly, so if any of you need some wiring done I would highly recommend Doug.

Also congratulations to Charlie Allen for qualifying #1 in a very tough field.  Greg Heaton from Division 6 and Mike Blodgett, Jr also ran a perfect 9.90 but unfortunately for them it was after Charlie’s run. Thanks to Jim Sowards for the sponsorship money for #1 qualifier.

Our next race will be sponsored by King’s Hawaiian on April 17th at LACR.  It was originally scheduled to be in conjunction with the NHRA National Open but NHRA has changed the date of the National Open to our Sept 25th race. Eagle Rods & Crankshafts will be the sponsor for both P\G and S\ST at this race.  Just like last year, NHRA will be giving a grade point to everyone and a Wally to the winner in addition to our normal payout and trophies.

Thanks again to all our sponsors at this race, including, Mike’s Transmission, K & N Filters, Hughes Performance, Joe Roubicek, PJ Giacalone, Mo’s Exotic Soaps N Candles and Ken “Racer” Brown of Brown’s Transmission.  I know I speak for all our racers when I say we couldn’t do it without your support.  Good luck to all at Pomona and Phoenix, see you in April at LACR for the King’s Hawaiian race.

Race Safe…
