Ray's Notes We had 81 cars run our 7th race of the year sponsored by Eagle Rods and Crankshafts. We ran in conjunction with the Napa Auto Parts NHRA National Open. Eagle Rods and Crankshafts have been a long time sponsor and friend of Southern California Pro Gas for many years and we really want to thank them for all their support. Remember they have much more than just rods and crankshafts so next time you need rings, bearings, gaskets or whatever, give them a call, mention Pro Gas and they will give you a great deal. Thanks to Smith MotorSports for sponsoring the race trophy. Also, thanks to Bill Ohmer and Steve Parsons for sponsoring the #1qualifier. Congratulations to PJ and Jack Giacalone for winning the race. PJ was almost perfect on the tree from the 3rd round on as his average light for the last 5 rounds was a .404. Also, Congratulations to Dave Fargo on his runner-up finish (he also was runner-up Saturday in Super Street). He too had great lights; his average for the last 5 rounds was a .408. PJ and Dave both had .404 lights in the final but PJ prevailed at the finish line. Congratulations to Tim & Donna Daniel for their S\ST win on Saturday. Congrats to Russ Hester for qualifying #1. We had 8 racers qualify on the index at this race. Also, congrats to Doug Crumlich for picking up the Bulls-Eye award for taking out our point’s leader Wayne Newman. I would like to thank Kari, Sharon, Kitty and Judy Jennings for all their hard work at this race. A special thank you to Kari as she worked all day Saturday taking entries (387) for all the classes, then worked all day Sunday to make sure our race went smoothly. She makes me very proud. Our next and final race of the year will be October 16th at L.A.C.R. it will be sponsored by Wayne & Dave’s Automotive, Lindy’s Auto Parts, The Radiator Shop, K.C. Custom Moulding, and Classic Auto Sales. Gates will open at 7:30 and we start racing at 9:00. Each Shoot-Out contestant will make a single run before regular qualifying begins and run eliminations during qualifying. The payout again this year will be $1000.00 to win, $600.00 to the runner-up, $400.00 to the 2nd round losers and $200.00 to the 1st round losers. Thanks to all our great Shoot-Out sponsors: Team C Performance, Perma-Coil, JE Pistons, Bill Welch Portable Welding, Pizazz Motorsports, Rumis Motorsports, Cordeiro Motorsports, www.DragTrans.com, Pete’s Dragin’, Val Torres Construction, Jim Sowards and Gary, Nancy and Petey. Remember December 18th is our luncheon banquet, on the Queen Mary, please mark your calendars. We still need help with top 10 merchandise and product, please contact any of the directors or Maureen Smith. We also regret to inform you of the loss of a fellow racer, Albert Padron. He passed away Tuesday, September 28th after a battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. Race Safe… |
