Ray's Notes Congratulations to our 2004 Southern California Pro Gas Champion, Mike Blodgett (Syd’s Papa). I’m sure he’ll look great in a hula skirt. Wayne Newman accumulated the most points for the year but because of dropping 3 races, he finished 2nd. We had 56 cars show up for our make up race. Val Torres, Jr. was the winner of this race and Mel Jones was runner-up, Congratulations to both of you. This race was sponsored by Wayne & Dave’s Automotive, The Radiator Shop, Lindy’s Auto Parts, Classic Auto Sales and K.C. Custom Moulding. The trophy sponsor was Jim Sowards. We would like to thank these and all the other sponsors that helped us out throughout the year. Our #1 Qualifier was Andy MacDougal, who won $100.00 for his effort. Number 2 qualifier was John Turk who won $25.00 and the “You Just Missed It” award sponsored by Pizazz Racing. Our #5 Qualifier was Fred Kondrotas who won $25.00 from Ken “Racer” Brown Transmissions. Our Bulls-Eye award of $100.00 went to Steve Parsons for taking out our points leader and new SCPG Champion Mike Blodgett. Our "Clean-Up” award, sponsored by Mo’s Exotic Soap ‘N Candles, went to Tony Williams who broke a tranny on the line. Congratulations to Rick Gunther for winning the Shoot-Out Championship this year. Congrats to Chris Newman for his win in Medford, Oregon, also for being #10 in the Nation. Congrats, also go to Greg Ventura for his win in S\C at the Las Vegas Nationals, in his S\G Chevy II. As usual our SCPG racers did great again this year in NHRA racing. Randy Balough won the Division 7 Championship and he also represented Division 7 at the Allstar Race. Steve Williams was #2 in Division 7, Chris Newman was #4 and Joe Roubicek was #5. In National points, Randy Balough finished #5 and Chris Newman finished #10. Congratulations to all of you. Our newsletter editor, Bob Johnson, has moved to Mchigan and we will miss him at our races. Even though we hate to see him go, we wish him and his family all the best. Bob will continue doing our newsletters next year. Thanks again to all our sponsors, racers and families for making this another great year for SCPG. Ray |
