2006 Southern California Pro Gas Champion

Ray's Notes

We had 43 cars enter our 3rd race of the year. Our race sponsors were JE Pistons (they also helped sponsor our 2nd race), Team C Performance, S&Z Racing (J Wayne Silvia) and Mayeda Motorsports (Vince Mayeda). The trophy sponsor was Randy Bowers. Thank you all very much; you help make S.C.P.G. what it is.

Congratulations to Steve Parsons for winning the race. He did a great job on the tree and he was dialed in all day long.

Also, Congrats to Mike and Robin Boner for their runner-up finish. He also did a great job all day long and had that T-Bird flying. Wayne Newman also had a great week-end winning S/St on Saturday and going all the way to the semi’s on Sunday before losing a close one by .004 to Parsons.

Our #1 qualifier was Mel Jones and he received $100.00 from Randy Bowers and a plaque from Joe Roubicek. Fred Kondrotas received the “You just missed it” award and $25.00 from PJ and Pizazz Racing for qualifying #2. Steve Parsons received $30.00 from Ken “Racer” Brown of Brown’s Transmission and Repair for being our #5 qualifier. I received the $100.00 Bulls-Eye award from Dave Calvert and CP Pistons, when Phil Miller was unable to get his car fixed for 1st round. Audrey Israel will receive $25.00 from Jim Sowards for the Turtle award (worst winning light during eliminations).

Thanks again to all our great sponsors that I’ve mentioned above; and also to K & N Filters, Mike’s Transmission and Hughes Performance. Remember it’s important for us to support the companies that support us.

Thanks again to the L.A.C.R. crew for a well run race as usual. Also thanks again to Dave Fargo and our S.C.P.G. women, Kari, Robin, Donna and Kitty for all their work.

I understand the whole Blodgett clan will be sipping Mi Tai’s and soaking up that Hawaiian sun for a week sometime around Mother’s Day. Mike Sr. won the Championship last year and received the Maui trip from Les and Jeanette Harris. This is such an awesome gift to win for our Champions. I don’t know of any other racing associations that even come close to something like this. Thank you very much Les & Jeanette, you are very generous people who ask for nothing in return.

Some of you may not have heard that Gary Berger, the long time tech guy at L.A.C.R.; lost his battle with lung cancer and was buried on 4/22/05. Our condolences go out to Gary’s immediate family and also to his L.A.C.R. family. Gary was a great guy who always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anybody with anything. All who knew him will miss him. Also, some of you might have noticed that Tim has not been taking the money at the gate lately. Bernie told me that Tim had a heart attack but seems to be doing better. Get well soon Tim.

Our next race is Saturday May 28th at Fontana. The parking lot will be open Friday night for early arrivals. The gates will open at 7:00am and time trials will start running at 9:00am. Dave Danish is trying to get the o.k. for people to leave their rigs at Fontana if they would like to for the race the following weekend.

Race Safe,
