2006 Southern California Pro Gas Champion
Jim Israel

Ray's Notes

We had 45 cars enter our 7th race of the year; sponsored by Wayne & Dave’s Automotive and Wayne Silvia of S & Z Racing. The entire Newman family has helped support Southern California Pro Gas for many years and we all appreciate what they do. We also want to thank Wayne Silvia for his generous support. Also thanks to Joe Roubicek for sponsoring this race trophy; as well as all our #1 qualifier and runner-up plaques all year.

Congratulations to Doug Crumlich for winning the race and to Ryan Herem for his runner-up finish. Doug was really on a roll this weekend as he also went to the semis in S\St. Ryan moved up to fifth place in the points with his runner-up finish.

Wayne Silvia also had a good day as he not only qualified #1 and received $100.00 from Bill Welch Portable Welding, he also went on to beat our point’s leader Pete Kinney for the $100.00 Bulls-Eye award from Dave Calvert of C.P. Pistons, and he also went to the semi finals.

John Gilbert was our #2 qualifier and received $25.00 and the “You Just Missed It” award from P.J. and Jack Giacalone of Pizazz Racing. Dave Crumlich was our #5 qualifier and received $30.00 from Ken “Racer” Brown of Brown’s Transmission and Repair. Our top 5 qualifiers including the racers mentioned above plus Jim Israel and Dave Carroll all ran 10.201. Jim Ketcher wins our Turtle award for the 2nd straight race for winning his first round with a .477 lite and will receive another $25.00 from Jim Sowards.

Thanks to Robin, Donna, Kari and Kitty for all their help at this race and also to Dave Fargo for taking care of our points.

Our last race of the year will be October 1st at LACR and will be sponsored by Meziere Enterprises. They have been long time sponsors and we really appreciate all their support. They not only manufacture many great products but they’re also a really great group of people. The gates will open at 7:30 and we will start racing at 9:00. Each Shoot-Out contestant will make a single run before regular qualifying begins and run eliminations during qualifying. All Shoot-Out contestants please meet at my trailer at 8:45 on Saturday morning. The Shoot-Out payout again this year will be $1000.00 to the winner, $600.00 runner-up, $400.00 to 2nd round losers and $200.00 for 1st round losers. Thanks to all our great Shoot-Out sponsors JE Pistons---Classic Auto Sales---Rumis Motorsports---Pizazz Racing---Cordeiro Motorsports---Tim & Donna Daniel---Val Torres Construction---K.C.’S Custom Moldings---DragTrans.com---Bill Welch Portable Welding.

Our awards banquet will be on the Queen Mary again this year. It will be on December 10th, from 11:00 to 4:30. We still need help with the top ten merchandise and products. If you can help with anything on the banquet please contact Pete Kinney.

Race Safe,
Ray
