Ray's Notes

We had 65 cars enter our last Fontana race of the year sponsored by Product Engineering. This was John Rademacher’s 3rd year as a full sponsor and we really appreciate what he has done to support our association so don’t forget to support him whenever you can.

Congratulations to John and Bridgett Ross for winning their 1st SGPG race. John and his Dad Gary have both been doing well this year.

Also Congrats to Mike and Janice Bolden for their runner-up finish, Mike has always been a tough competitor and also a great guy. Thanks to Randy Bowers for sponsoring our race trophy and to Joe Roubicek for sponsoring all of our #1 Qualifying plaques and our runner-up trophies.

Congrats to Hollis Colleasure for qualifying #1 and receiving $100.00 from J.E. Pistons. We had 17 racers run 9.90’s. Our #2 Qualifier was John Matassa and he received $25.00 and the “You Just Missed It” award from PJ and Jack Giacalone of Pizazz Racing. Our #5 Qualifier Randy Balough received $30.00 from Ken “Racer” Brown of Brown’s Transmission and Repair. Mike Boner took out our point’s leader Jim Israel in the 4th round and will receive $200.00 from Dave Calvert of C.P. Pistons if he has the C.P. sticker on his car. The turtle award sponsored by Jim Sowards will go to Gary Cooke for his stellar .685 winning lite in round 1.

As many of you already know there has been a problem at L.A.C.R. with high winds and dust on the track at some of their races. Bernie called me when we were at Fontana and told me it maybe in our best interest to try and reschedule our Sept. 17th race to some other track. I have tried Fontana, Bakersfield and Las Vegas and they are all booked for the rest of the year. Bernie said when they do have a problem with the winds it is generally in the late afternoon so he is going to open the gates at 6:30am and start running at 8:00am for both S\St (Saturday) and P\G (Sunday). That way if the wind does decide to blow we still have a good chance of getting the race done before it becomes a problem.

Our next race will be sponsored by J.E. Pistons and Meziere Enterprises on Sunday September 17th, and remember the gates open at 6:30am and start running at 8:00am. Also remember this will be your last chance to qualify for the Shoot-Out. Bill Ohmer still holds the lead at 43 points (with only 4 races claimed) and Ryan Herem holds down the 8th spot with 24 points, with a number of other racers right behind him. Also Jim Israel still holds on to a 122 point lead over Jim Sowards for the Championship with many more racers close behind them.

Also for those that may not have made it to our last race or haven’t already heard Gary Cooke will be taking over SCPG next year. Randy Fabbro and Jimmy G (Galante) will be staying on to help Gary but he could sure use more help, be sure and let Gary know if you will be able to help out next year. Also while we’re on the subject of help, we are looking for people to help put on the banquet this year. If you can help contact myself or Kitty A.S.A.P.

Also I’ve been told that HWY 138 will be closed until Sept. 19th so anyone who comes that way be sure and check out an alternate route.

Race Safe,
Ray

P.S. congratulations to John Ross for winning the Divisional race in Bakersfield and also to Chris Newman for his Runner-Up finish, it’s always great to have two of our racers I the final.
